‘Find perfection in imperfection’

Another module we had last year was professional practice. We had to create an exhibition with the second year students. We all came together and created the theme of imperfection. This was limited because it wasn’t specific but fortunately it allowed me to change my idea throughout the project. I decided that I didn’t want to do studio work for this task, like most of my other friends. I wanted to do something different which I had not done before, enabling me to capture plants and trees as an imperfect subject. During the development of this task, I changed my idea to capturing weeds instead because most people see weeds as irritating and unfortunate. As I had this new idea, I started taking pictures and they looked a lot better than the other ones using the previous idea. When exhibiting these images, I wanted to develop them using foam board as this was something I had not done before. Setting up exhibitions was a very interesting experience and it’s a skill I’ve carried over into this years modules. My favourite skill I learned throughout this project was setting up all the images on the wall and making it look professional. Having my name underneath my work was very exciting, as this was the first time I had contributed to an exhibition.
